Optimizing your Wireless Signal & Strength

If you have come this far, I assume you have installed DD-WRT installed.  Wireless optimization on Stock firmware is usually limited by manufacturers to prevent damage of wrong settings or other. So to follow up from hacking software and hardware modding follow instructions below.

1)    Log in to your router using address http://192.168.1.1

2)    First thing change your wireless security to WPA 2 Personal w/ AES encryption. AES is better and faster than WEP & TKIP.

3)    Make sure you select Wi-Fi channel that is not used by your neighbors or surroundings or use non overlapping channels such as 1,6, and 11. Few applications for Windows/Mac/Android OS can be found on internet/play store. Example, Netstumbler/Kismac/Wifi Analyzer respectively.

4)    Go in Wireless Advance tab of your DD-WRT router and enable the following.

MIMO – Transmission Fixed Rate : Auto
CTS Protection Mod: Disable
Frame Burst: Enable
Beacon Interval: 100 <= if poor signals you can reduce it. Play with it.
TX Power:  90mW
Afterburner: Enable
5)    I also recommend using two different routers if you have mix of new and old devices. Connecting G router to N router will drop the network back to G. So if you set one router to N only and one to N&G, you can connect old devices to N&G, while newer to N only.

6)    I overclocked my router and bumped these settings. My Router has been stable and working extremely better. I will post pictures later.
